In our initial consultation we will review your health history and identify what your primary goal of care is. With this in mind we will do a thorough functional neurological and orthopaedic physical examination. When required, this visit may also assess specific nutritional pathways, identify food or environmental sensitivities, body toxicity issues and maladaptive stress patterns.
Following our examination many clients will require further testing which may include; xrays, MRI, blood tests, stool and digestive tests, allergy testing, toxicity testing, foot biomechanical assessment and digital posture assessment.
Prior to your next visit we will review the results of your tests and design a personalized care plan that outlines what we will address and what you need to do in order to achieve your goal. On this visit once we have explained our approach and you have understood and agree to your care plan, your treatment will commence.
In cases of clients with acute injury and pain we will commence treatment immediately to address the immediate pain as long as we deem it safe to do so.
If your goal of care is primarily to address the mental level of health ie to help with anxiety, depression, overwhelm or burn out, we still assess your whole system as diet, lifestyle, posture, breathing and thought patterns all contribute to how you feel.
Once your primary goal has been reached, most of our clients continue with us on a mind and body maintenance program, as great health and feeling amazing is not an end-point, it’s a lifelong journey.

Yes. A recent government study found that adjustments are “remarkably safe”. By avoiding drugs and risky surgery, chiropractic care enjoys an excellent track record. A thorough exam can identify the rare person for whom chiropractic care might be unsuited. Compare the statistics. Adjustments are about 100 times safer than taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.
No. Only the spinal joints that are “locked up” receive adjustments. Any instability is addressed with support, exercises and the connective tissue strengthened with laser therapy.
The number of adjustments varies with each patient and their individual health goals. Many patients sense some progress within a week or two. We are changing established patterns in the body. Just like going to the gym or putting braces on your teeth, if you need to change the alignment of your body it will take time. Visits are less often as your spine stabilises. In difficult cases, complete healing can take months or even years.
Anytime is a good time for a better functioning nervous system and spine, especially when the body is undergoing immense stress. Pregnant mothers find that chiropractic adjustments improve their pregnancy and make delivery easier for themselves and their baby. Adjusting methods are always adapted to a patient’s size, weight, age, and condition of health.
No. Some people can make their joints “pop” but that’s not an adjustment! Worse, damage can occur by mobilizing a joint with weakened muscles and ligaments. Adjustments are specific and take years to master. Even your chiropractic doctor must consult a colleague to benefit from chiropractic care.
In understanding the difference between Chiropractic and Physiotherapy, we recommend referring to the definition of each practice. Chiropractic is a health care discipline based on the scientific premise that the body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. The practice of Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine, and pelvis) and function (as co-ordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. Physiotherapy, as described by the Australian Physiotherapy Association, “uses a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. It can help repair damage by speeding up the healing process and reducing pain and stiffness. Chiropractic, with its central focus on the spine, nervous system and their impact on the entire body, provides a health care option that can help manage pain as well as assist in achieving optimal well-being.
Of course. When developing a care plan, your chiropractic doctor considers the unique circumstances of each patient. There are many ways to adjust the spine. The method selected will be best suited to your age, size and condition.
Pain of any kind, at any age, is a sign that something isn’t right. Pain is the way your body signals that a limit has been reached or a problem has developed. Since we can adapt, minor aches and pains are often shrugged off. While they may go away, if the underlying problem remains unattended, the problem can slowly worsen until it becomes more difficult and expensive to resolve.
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. Surgery often causes instability above or below the involved level. This will be the focus of your chiropractic care. Post surgery treatment with low lever laser therapy is an effective and non-invasive way to address pain and inflammation associated with surgery.
More and more people are consulting chiropractic doctors, especially in their later years. With growing concerns about over-medication and the side effects of combining various prescription drugs, safe, natural chiropractic care is growing in popularity. Restoring better spinal function can help improve mobility, vitality, endurance, and appetite. Many patients report improvements with arthritic symptoms and other chronic ailments often associated with the aging process. The adjusting technique used by your doctor will be modified for maximum comfort and results. As we get older and wiser, the simplicity and effectiveness of chiropractic care becomes more and more obvious.
Chiropractors don’t dispense drugs. We rely on natural methods. Muscle relaxers and even the most common over-the-counter pain medications fail on two counts. First, while convenient, they don’t address the underlying cause of your problem. Second, side effects such as addiction, kidney failure, liver damage and even death can result. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the side effects associated with pain medications.
Nearly all private health insurers have a cover for Chiropractic in their extra’s cover.
Chiropractors are legislated as primary contact health professionals throughout Australia. This means that patients can consult them directly. However, chiropractors often work closely with medical doctors, many of whom refer to chiropractors when they believe chiropractic treatment will help alleviate a patient’s condition. Similarly, chiropractors frequently refer to medical doctors when necessary.
The University training required to become a chiropractor is 5 years. The science of chiropractic requires a special emphasis on anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology, biomechanics, X-ray, spinal adjusting techniques, and other related subjects. These studies educate chiropractors to locate your spinal problems so they can help correct the resulting nervous system dysfunction. Before any chiropractic student graduates, they must pass demanding written and practical examinations by a panel of their peers. Then, they apply to a Government registration board and are reviewed before being granted the privilege to practice. We believe education is a life long journey and as a result we gladly give up our weekends to continue learning to serve you better by attending seminars and other extracurricular events.
AK is a diagnostic tool using the muscle structure of the body to aid in the examination of a patient. Its use allows immediate feedback, aiding the practitioner in making decisions on what type of care the patient needs.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as Cold Laser Therapy or Photobiomodulation Therapy uses light to boost the body’s natural healing ability in response to pain, inflammation, swelling and muscular spasm, whilst at the same time increasing oxygen levels to sick and injured cells. Our super pulsed 50w laser produces no heat, but is powerful enough to penetrate up to 12cm into the body. It is also approved and registered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).FIND OUT MORE
When laser light is applied to the skin, damaged cells absorb the light and convert it to energy, stimulating the body’s own natural healing response. It also stimulates the brain to produce endorphins, and reduce the reception of pain signals from the injury site. It assists the body in speeding up its own natural healing response, increasing tissue repair, reducing scar formation, improving blood flow and reducing swelling. Importantly, Cold Therapy results in the reduction of pain.
Put simply, Cold Laser Therapy is incredibly effective at boosting the body’s own immune response! Proper activation of the immune response allows your body tissue’s to repair. Some of its many uses include: Neck and back pain, headaches, sinusitis, wounds and post-operative healing, Sporting injuries, including muscles, tendons and ligaments, Arthritis and neuropathy.
Cold Laser Therapy is a safe alternative to anti-inflammatories and analgesic medication.
Cold Laser Therapy has a 3 stage approach to healing. Initially laser blocks the pain receptors to the injury site, then works on the reduction of inflammation, and finally promotes healing. Cold Laser Therapy has a cumulative effect, thus each treatment builds one on top of the other due to the increase in oxygen to the damaged cells resulting in tissue repair. Each time the injury site is treated it improves the flow of both blood and lymph, enabling the body to recover. Your body will continue to respond and promote healing on a cellular level after each treatment has finished. Optimum results are best achieved by ensuring that you are well hydrated and have the ideal nutritional support for your condition.
Pyrrole disorder (also known as Pyrroluria) is a genetically based condition which results in the abnormal synthesis/metabolism of haemoglobin. Pyrroluria patients produce excessive amounts of a haemoglobin metabolite named Mauve Factor. Mauve factor is excreted via the urine and possesses a pyrrole structure.
The excessive amounts of Mauve factor which are produced by Pyrroluria patients have shown to naturally bind with zinc and vitamin B6, blocking their receptor sites and causing them to become unavailable for their normal functions. There are many signs and symptoms of Pyrroluria including anxiety, withdrawal, explosive anger, tantrums, aggression, poor morning appetite, intolerance to bright light, loud noises and strong smells and allergies to name a few.
MTHFR is an enzyme that converts the folate you eat into the active form (5-Methyltetrahydrofolate). So, if you have a mutation in the gene then it’s going to be affecting how much active folate you have available. Folate is required for proper cellular function critical for our good health.
Methyl groups are required for a huge range of functions in the body. Methylation is the addition of this methyl group to another molecule. They are the on/off switches for many cell activities, they turn genes on and off, turn enzymes on and off, turn neurotransmitters on and off, turn on tissue repair, turn off inflammation, turn on and off the stress response, reduce the aging process, detoxify chemicals and help supply the body’s most important anti-oxidant glutathione, helping to assist with liver and cellular detoxification.
MTHFR gene mutation may result in the increase of a chemical called homocysteine. Hyperhomocysteinemia is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease especially heart disease and stroke.
